Health information affects real decisions, so we hold our content to high standards. This page explains how articles on Vibrant Vitality are researched, written, reviewed and corrected.
Our mission
To provide accurate, balanced and easy-to-understand health information that helps readers recognise symptoms, understand treatment options, prevent illness, and know when to seek professional care.
Who writes our content
Articles are written by Joy Enowoh Aderinwale, a registered nurse. Joy chooses the topics, decides what readers need to know, and checks every medical statement against the sources listed at the end of the article before it is published. She is responsible for everything we publish.
Like many publishers, we use software tools, such as spelling and grammar checkers and writing assistants, to help with research and editing. These tools do not decide what we publish: every article is read, corrected and approved by Joy.
Medical review
Articles are currently written and checked by our author. We do not yet have an independent medical reviewer. When a doctor, pharmacist or other qualified professional reviews an article, we will name them and show the date of their review on that article.
Sources we use
We base our articles on reliable, up-to-date evidence, including:
- The World Health Organization (WHO) and its Regional Office for Africa
- The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) and the Federal Ministry of Health
- National health services and agencies, such as the UK National Health Service (NHS) and the US National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed medical research
The main sources for each article are listed at the end of the article so readers can check them.
How we write
- We start each article with a clear answer, then explain symptoms, causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
- We use plain language and explain medical terms.
- We include a “When to see a doctor” section with warning signs that need urgent care.
- We do not promote unproven cures. Where traditional or herbal remedies are commonly used, we explain what the evidence shows and any risks.
- We avoid giving specific medicine doses, which should come from a health worker who knows the patient.
Review and updates
Medical knowledge changes. We review articles regularly and update them when guidance changes. The “Last updated” date on each article shows when it was last revised.
Corrections
If you find an error or out-of-date information, please email joyaderinwale@gmail.com with the article title and details. We review every report and correct confirmed errors promptly.
Independence and advertising
Our content is editorially independent. Advertising, when shown, is clearly separate from articles, and advertisers do not influence what we write. We do not accept payment for favourable coverage of products or services.
